A GOOD GUESS GOES A LONG WAY

How to play Hundo Game

Five questions. Five estimates. Every answer is a whole number from 0 to 100, including both ends. Your goal is to finish with the lowest total error.

Make your estimate.

  1. Read the question and the unit underneath it. A percentage, a distance and the final two digits of a year mean different things.
  2. Drag the scale, type a number, or tap −10, −1, +1 or +10. The initial guess is 50, and you can submit it as it stands. Typed values must be whole numbers from 0 to 100.
  3. Choose Submit guess. That guess is locked. Read the answer, explanation, rounding rule and source, then select Next question.
  4. After question five, see your total and open each question in the review. Copy your result or use your device’s sharing dialog.

There’s no time limit. On a keyboard, Tab moves between controls, arrow keys adjust the scale, and Enter submits the form. Enter or Space activates a focused button. Invalid typed input shows an explanation instead of silently changing your guess.

How scoring works

Each question adds the absolute distance between your guess and the answer: |guess − answer|. Guess 35 when the answer is 42: 7 points. Guess 49 instead: still 7. Guess 42 exactly: 0.

Add all five errors. For example, 0 + 2 + 4 + 7 + 10 = 23. Zero is the best total; 500 is the maximum. Points are error, so more points mean you were further away. There are no time bonuses or multipliers.

A fresh five at local midnight.

Questions change at midnight in your device’s local time zone. A date and version always identify the same ordered questions on HundoGame.com. Different time zones can be on different dates at the same moment.

If you cross midnight while playing, your existing round stays open. Finish it, then use Play today’s five to start the new date. Scores stay attached to the puzzle’s date. If a date hasn’t been published, we show an unavailable message rather than relabel an older round.

Your browser remembers.

Guesses, current progress, completed scores and daily streaks are saved in this browser on this device. Refresh or reopen to continue. There is no account or cross-device sync. Clearing site storage removes the record; private browsing may discard it when the session ends.

A streak counts consecutive puzzle dates completed, including yesterday if today isn’t finished yet. Different days may vary in difficulty, so your personal lowest score isn’t a global ranking. Storage failures display a warning and let you continue the current visit. If a saved record cannot be read, it is left untouched.

Share without spoiling.

The share text includes the date, version, total and five errors. It contains no questions or answers. Compare only results from this site with the same date and version. The homepage link opens the daily currently available to the visitor; it isn’t a past-puzzle replay link.

Our symbols mean: 🎯 exact; 🟢 error 1–5; 🟡 6–15; 🟠 16–30; 🔴 31–100. These are display bands, not player percentiles. Copy success means text reached the clipboard; opening a sharing dialog does not prove a post was published.

Questions about a question?

Every reveal includes the source and a Report a problem email link with its question ID, date and version. Opening the link prepares an email in your mail app; you choose whether to send it. Read our question method.
